PIM, by contrast, prepares product data for marketing and sales.<\/p><h2>PDM and PIM: the difference<\/h2>\n<p>PDM systems are engineering tools. They ensure that engineers work with the correct version of a drawing and that changes are traceable. In many manufacturing companies, technical data flows from PDM or PLM into PIM via an interface.
