It is the most frequently underestimated part of a PIM implementation.<\/p><h2>Typical steps<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Take stock of data sources and volumes<\/li>\n<li>Map legacy fields to the new data model<\/li>\n<li>Cleanse data: duplicates, obsolete items, inconsistent values<\/li>\n<li>Run test migrations and obtain sign-off from business departments<\/li>\n<li>Migrate to the production system and retire legacy sources<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Tips<\/h2>\n<p>Do not migrate everything without reviewing it first. A migration is the ideal opportunity to clear out legacy clutter.
