Alterra::PIM

Alterra::PIM is the PIM system from Düsseldorf-based Sepia GmbH & Co. KG. The software is web-based, uses open standards and can also be deployed as SaaS. Sepia targets manufacturers and retailers with technical product ranges, as well as publishers.

• Translation: integrated translation memory for multilingual data.
• Media and workflows: media asset management, document management and approval processes.
• Output: export to XML, BMEcat, Office formats, PDF and InDesign files, plus integration with online shops such as Magento.

Strengths and limitations

Alterra::PIM offers a broad range of capabilities and has been used in industry for many years. Case studies are available from industrial gas manufacturer Messer, tool manufacturer Stahlwille, fastener distributor WASI, household goods supplier WENKO and Rudolf Müller Mediengruppe. At Messer, an in-house development team customises the system. There is little publicly available information on the current roadmap and AI features, so you should clarify these points in a discussion with the vendor.
