PIM project: from selection to ongoing operations

From the initial assessment to ongoing operations: explore the key topics for your PIM project here. Our PIM selection page explains how we work with you to select the right system.

The stages of a PIM project

  1. Current-state assessment and objectives (a few weeks): What data, channels, languages and processes do you have today, and what needs to improve? The Omnichannel Health Check can help.
  2. Selection (usually two to three months): Requirements, market overview, demos and proposal comparison, covered in PIM selection. Use the PIM criteria checklist as a template.
  3. Solution design: Define the data model, responsibilities, workflows and interfaces.
  4. Implementation and migration (for mid-sized businesses, often six to twelve months until the first channel goes live): Configuration, ERP and online store integration, legacy data migration and enrichment.
  5. Operations and expansion: Connect additional channels, languages and suppliers, and continuously measure data quality.

Our dedicated page explains the costs of implementation and ongoing operations, and which items to include in your budget.

PIM for e-commerce

In e-commerce, complete product data is crucial to discoverability and return rates. A PIM system delivers consistent descriptions, attributes and images to your online store, marketplaces and feeds.

PIM implementation & costs

What does a PIM system really cost? Beyond licence or SaaS fees, you need to factor in implementation, data migration, interfaces and ongoing operations. We explain what to budget for.
