Strengths and limitations
BYRD is strong in consumer goods and grocery retail: suppliers can submit data through the interface or via Excel, and retailers receive validated data. flaschenpost uses BYRD for its supplier data, while Peter Kölln uses it to manage its own product content. BYRD is less suited to industrial companies with technical product ranges. We classify BYRD as a syndication platform with PIM capabilities.
BYRD Health part of osapiens since March 2026
On 26 March 2026, BAYARD transferred its BYRD Health medical devices business to Mannheim-based osapiens. It covers master data, content and compliance management for medical devices, UDI submissions to EUDAMED, GUDID and Australia’s TGA, as well as GDSN solutions, including those for the HCDP initiative of German hospital purchasing groups. The offering is now called “osapiens for Medical Devices (BYRD Health)”. Since then, BAYARD has focused on product content for retailers and their suppliers in Europe.
