Salsify is a Product Experience Management (PXM) vendor based in Boston, founded in 2012. The platform combines PIM and Digital Asset Management with syndication of product content to online retailers and marketplaces. In July 2026, private equity firm Cinven announced its acquisition of Salsify. Completion remains subject to regulatory approval (as of October 2026). In 2021, Salsify acquired French vendor Alkemics, a platform for exchanging product data between brands and retailers (SupplierXM).
Salsify is built for brand manufacturers selling their products through multiple retailers. Product data, images and videos are managed centrally and then delivered in each retailer’s required format, for example to Amazon or major grocery chains. Customers include Coca-Cola, Bosch and GSK.
One feature that sets Salsify apart from most PIM systems is its Digital Shelf Analytics module. It shows how a company’s products actually appear on retailers’ sites: whether content is complete, how products are found, and what prices and reviews look like. So far, few PIM vendors offer this capability. XPLN is another pioneer in Digital Shelf Analytics.
Once the deal closes, Salsify will be owned by a private equity firm. Experience shows that acquisitions of this kind are often followed by further acquisitions, price adjustments or a more focused product strategy. Existing customers should keep an eye on contract terms and price guarantees. Companies evaluating Salsify should ask about the roadmap for the European market. Salsify combines PIM, DAM and syndication, with one of the largest networks of ready-made connections to retailers, marketplaces, social commerce channels and AI platforms. According to the vendor, this covers over 2,500 endpoints. Errors are flagged before content is sent. Workflows and permissions can be configured without coding, and Salsify operates its own GS1-certified GDSN data pool. Limitations: Salsify is less widely used for complex B2B industrial products with extensive inheritance rules and requires more manual configuration. Deeply nested product hierarchies are harder to visualise clearly. The pricing model has many variables, so clarify renewal terms in advance as well.
