catXmedia

catXmedia is the PIM and publishing system from lindner software & consulting GmbH, which operates under the lisocon brand. Based in Hanover, the company has been developing the software in-house since 2001. It primarily serves industrial companies in German-speaking markets that want to supply product data for print, web and B2B channels from a single source.

catXmedia modules

• PIM: centralised management of technical product data with support for ETIM and eCl@ss classifications, using Microsoft SQL Server as the underlying database.
• cXm:BRIDGE: bidirectional integration with Adobe InDesign to keep layouts and product data in sync.
• cXm:CONNECT: interfaces to SAP and other ERP systems, e-commerce platforms such as Magento, and export in BMEcat format.
• Translation: integrated translation workflow. According to the vendor, customers work with up to 28 languages.

Strengths and limitations

catXmedia’s strength lies in catalogue and datasheet production: companies that produce extensive print catalogues in multiple languages each year benefit from its close InDesign integration. Customers such as wenglor sensoric and Schüco International demonstrate its focus on technical product ranges. Marketplace syndication and B2C e-commerce features are less of a focus. During the selection process, ask specifically about deployment options, whether on your own server or hosted.

catXmedia is a good fit for manufacturers in industry and building technology with substantial publishing needs and a requirement for SAP integration. It is worth comparing it with systems such as Mediacockpit or CX30.
