novomind iPIM is the PIM system from Hamburg-based novomind AG. Founded in 2000, the owner-managed company also offers customer service and commerce software alongside its PIM system. iPIM has a modular architecture and is designed for manufacturers and retailers with large product ranges of up to several million items.

novomind iPIM modules

  • iPIM: centralised product data management, designed for Product Experience Management and product-related Master Data Management.
  • iPIM Supply: onboarding of supplier product data.
  • iPIM Buy: a portal where customers and partners can search for and download product data.
  • iPIM Print: creation of catalogues, marketing materials and other publications from PIM data.
  • iPIM Analytics: data quality analysis.

In practice

Electrical wholesaler Alexander Bürkle uses iPIM to consolidate data for around 2.7 million items from three sources and supply it to channels including its B2B shop. Forestry and gardening specialist retailer GRUBE uses iPIM and the Print module to support 14 European online shops in six languages and produce its catalogues. Implementations are sometimes handled by partners, such as brix IT Solutions in Switzerland.

Strengths and limitations

iPIM’s strengths lie in handling very large product ranges, supplier onboarding with iPIM Supply and catalogue production with iPIM Print. It also offers close integration with the company’s own commerce products: the iSHOP e-commerce platform and iMARKET marketplace connector. novomind itself describes iPIM as a “Commerce PIM”, and its reference customers are predominantly retailers and wholesalers. Based on our project experience, its core PIM capabilities are less developed than those of specialist PIM providers. Manufacturers with complex technical product data, numerous variants or classifications such as ETIM and ECLASS should therefore assess the data model and attribute management in detail. The product page does not mention GDSN connectivity.

Who novomind iPIM is suited to

iPIM is a good fit for retailers, wholesalers and manufacturers with very large product ranges who want to manage e-commerce, supplier data and print from a single system. For companies in German-speaking markets, a key advantage is that the vendor, support team and partners are based in the region. Our PIM selection page explains how to compare iPIM with other systems.
