Bundles and Sets

In brief: Bundles and sets are products made up of several individual items sold together, such as a tool case with a cordless drill, battery and charger. In PIM, they are represented through relationships between the component items.

Types

  • Fixed sets: a fixed combination with its own item number.
  • Bundles: combinations offered at a bundle price, often for promotions.
  • Configurable sets: customers choose the components themselves.

Managing sets in PIM

Best practice is to inherit attributes from the components rather than maintain them separately for the set. Set-specific copy, images and mandatory information are added. This keeps sets up to date when a component changes.
