GPSR / General Product Safety Regulation

In brief: The GPSR (General Product Safety Regulation, Regulation (EU) 2023/988) is the EU regulation on general product safety. Since 13 December 2024, it has required, among other things, that manufacturer details and safety information also be visible in online listings.

What information is required online

  • The manufacturer’s name and contact details and, for manufacturers outside the EU, those of the responsible person in the EU
  • Information identifying the product, such as its type, batch or serial number, and an image
  • Warnings and safety information in the language of the country

What this means for product data

This information must appear correctly in every sales channel, including marketplaces. Retailers and marketplaces are therefore increasingly making these fields mandatory. The easiest way to achieve this is to maintain the information centrally in the PIM system and deliver it automatically to all channels.
