What Plytix offers

Plytix is deliberately designed as a simple PIM for brands, retailers and distributors. Prices are published openly on its website, all plans allow unlimited users, and getting started with up to 100 items is free. Pricing increases with the number of items. Add-on modules such as Feed Management, brand portals, product sheets and integrations with Shopify, BigCommerce or Wayfair are licensed separately. A useful feature is the product sheet editor: sheets update automatically when data changes in the PIM. Every plan includes 500 AI credits per month. Workflows, formulas, webhooks and content agents are available from the Pro plan, while SSO and a test environment are included in the Enterprise plan. Customers include Hagen Group, Baldinini, Tunturi and Telco Accessories with its Xtorm brand. We see limitations when it comes to complex data models, industry standards such as GDSN and ETIM, and deep ERP integrations. Read more in the Plytix profile.

What Sales Layer offers

Sales Layer was founded in Valencia in 2013 and raised US$25 million in a funding round led by PeakSpan Capital in 2022. The PIM includes a DAM, connectors for online stores, marketplaces and ERP systems, as well as digital catalogs and PDF export. AI agents handle copy, translations, categorization and data quality checks. The MCP server is included in the license at no extra cost. It supports read-only access or write access with human approval and can also be run locally. Plans are tiered by users, products and languages. Sales Layer provides pricing on request and offers a free 30-day trial. According to the vendor, implementation takes less than six weeks. Customers in German-speaking markets include Switzerland-based namuk, with over 3,500 products across 11 channels, and Just Spices, alongside manufacturers such as ACCIONA, Bellota and Powerslide. When Plytix is a better fit

  • Limited budget: You want to start for free or at a low cost and see pricing on the website upfront.
  • Many users: Several teams or external partners need to work in the system without per-user licensing.
  • Manageable product range: You manage a few hundred to a few thousand products with a conventional data model.
  • E-commerce: You primarily supply online stores and marketplaces, including via feeds and brand portals.
  • Data sheets: You want to generate PDF data sheets directly from the PIM.

When Sales Layer is a better fit

  • B2B sales: You provide retailers, distributors and partners with catalogs in multiple languages.
  • Larger product ranges: You manage tens of thousands of products and need clear limits for each plan.
  • Connectors and DAM: You want to supply online stores, marketplaces and ERP systems through ready-made integrations and manage media in the same system.
  • AI assistants: Your teams need to access product data through Claude, ChatGPT or Copilot, with approval required before every change.
  • Trial period: You want to test the system with your own data for 30 days.

If neither is a fit: Ergonode, Pimberly and Struct PIM are similarly lean options. nextPIM is built for ETIM and BMEcat, while Akeneo and inriver offer more extensive workflow and supplier management capabilities. Cost comparison

Plytix publishes its pricing: the Standard plan starts at €0, Pro at €149 and Enterprise at €699 per month, each for 100 products. Pricing for the plan and add-on modules increases with the number of products, with add-ons also billed by product count. Sales Layer does not publish prices. Plans differ by users, products and languages, with payment annually or in monthly installments. For a fair comparison, ask both vendors for quotes covering the same number of products, languages, users and channels, including connectors and AI. Calculate costs over three to five years, including implementation and internal effort. Our article on PIM costs offers guidance.

Questions to ask both vendors

  • What will our product range cost over three years, based on our product count, languages and users, including add-on modules?
  • Which of our online stores, marketplaces and ERP systems have ready-made integrations, and what costs extra?
  • How can we model variants, technical attributes and approvals? Please demonstrate this using our own data.
  • Which AI features are included, and how is usage billed?
  • Who will support our implementation in German, and which partners are available in German-speaking markets?
