Database Publishing

In brief: Database publishing means automatically generating catalogues, price lists and data sheets from a database such as a PIM system. Layout templates are populated with product data instead of manually copying content into the layout.

How database publishing works

  • Templates are created in layout applications such as InDesign or in dedicated publishing systems
  • Placeholders are populated with text, attributes, images and prices from the PIM system
  • Changes in the PIM system can be applied to the publication at the touch of a button

Benefits

Fewer revision cycles, faster updates, more languages with the same effort and consistent information across print and online channels. It is particularly valuable for extensive catalogues, frequent price changes and multiple language versions.
