Marketplaces

In brief: Marketplaces such as Amazon, eBay, Otto, Kaufland or industry portals are sales platforms where multiple sellers offer their products. Each marketplace has its own categories, required fields and quality rules for product data.

What marketplaces require from product data

  • unique identification, usually via the GTIN
  • mapping to the marketplace’s categories and their required attributes
  • images that meet defined specifications, such as isolated product images at a minimum resolution
  • legally required details, such as manufacturer and safety information under the GPSR

Marketplaces and PIM

Without PIM, marketplace data is often maintained manually for each marketplace. With PIM, it is generated from the central dataset, mapped to each marketplace’s structure and delivered via interfaces or feeds. Rejected listings can then be corrected centrally.
