PIM Systems Compared 2026: 18 Vendors at a Glance

PIM Systems Compared 2026: An Independent Overview of 18 Vendors

Anyone looking for a PIM system will quickly find dozens of vendors. This overview introduces 18 widely used systems, plus three open-source alternatives. They are listed alphabetically, not ranked. The right system depends on your product range, channels, standards, ERP and budget. This overview is based on the profiles in our directory of 186 PIM vendors and 143 integrators, as of November 2026.

Key takeaways

  • According to the PIM-Consultants directory, 172 of 186 PIM vendors offer their system as SaaS, while 52 also support deployment in your own data centre.
  • 135 of the 186 vendors provide pricing only on request. 28 start below €500 per month, and 43 offer a free trial.
  • Pimcore (56) and Akeneo (50) are supported by the most integrators in our directory, followed by ATAMYA and Viamedici (20 each), Centric PXM (19) and Stibo Systems (15).
  • Of the 143 integrators in the directory, 115 operate in Germany, 23 in Switzerland and 6 in Austria.
  • No single system is the best fit for every company. The deciding factors are the data model, channels, classification standards, ERP integration, deployment model and the right partner.

The systems in detail

Akeneo

Nantes-based Akeneo has a modular structure: companies license only the components they need, such as core PIM, DAM, supplier onboarding or syndication. With 50 integrators, Akeneo has the second-largest partner network in our directory after Pimcore. View profile

ATAMYA

Bochum-based ATAMYA was known as eggheads until May 2025 and has been working on product data automation for over 30 years. The ATAMYA Product Cloud is cloud-native and is expanding its AI capabilities, including interfaces for AI agents. According to its profile, its focus industries are construction and mechanical engineering. View profile

Bluestone PIM

Norway-based Bluestone focuses on a modular, API-based architecture and AI. An MCP server gives external AI agents controlled access to PIM data. View profile

censhare

Munich-based censhare’s strength lies in connecting media, product data and publishing, from printed catalogues to online stores. This makes it an interesting option where marketing and catalogue production work closely with PIM. View profile

Centric PXM

Centric PXM, formerly Contentserv, is now part of Centric Software. Its strengths include direct read access to product data for online stores and ERP systems, an international support organisation and comprehensive audit trails. View profile

Informatica

Informatica has been part of Salesforce since November 2025. Product 360 is the PIM module of an extensive MDM platform and comes with prebuilt data pool integrations, industry-specific classifications and templates. View profile

inriver

Malmö-based inriver is designed for ease of use by business users. Workflows can be created visually and launched directly from the product view. View profile

novomind iPIM

Hamburg-based novomind iPIM is strong in managing very large product ranges, supplier onboarding with iPIM Supply and catalogue production with iPIM Print. View profile

Perfion

Perfion originates from Denmark and has been part of Boyum IT since 2023. The system shows which information is available and which is missing for each product, and can run as SaaS or in the company’s own data centre. View profile

Pimcore

Salzburg-based Pimcore combines PIM, MDM, DAM and CMS on an extensible platform. The Pimcore Open Core License has applied since version 12. The Community Edition is free, for example for companies with annual revenue below €5 million; production use above that threshold requires a commercial edition. With 56 integrators, Pimcore has the largest partner network in our directory. View profile

Plytix

Plytix targets small and medium-sized businesses and publishes its pricing. The Standard plan is free, Pro starts at €149 and Enterprise at €699 per month, in each case for the smallest catalogue size. Implementation, consulting and training are part of the offering. View profile

Quable

Paris-based Quable is widely used by fashion, luxury and consumer goods brands. Its interface is designed for business users. View profile

Salsify

Boston-based Salsify combines PIM, DAM and syndication, with an extensive network of prebuilt connections to retailers, marketplaces and social commerce channels. The system primarily targets large brand manufacturers. View profile

Sales Layer

Valencia-based Sales Layer is quick to set up and offers a 30-day free trial. Prebuilt connectors speed up integration with online stores, marketplaces and ERP systems such as SAP. View profile

SAP Commerce Cloud

SAP Commerce Cloud includes its own Product Content Management. If the online store runs on SAP Commerce and product data is primarily used for that store, this is a natural choice: no additional licence and no additional interface. View profile

Stibo Systems

Aarhus-based Stibo Systems is strong in core PIM: onboarding from multiple sources, data quality management with complex rules and data models with many hierarchy levels. The system combines PIM and MDM and targets large enterprises. View profile

Syndigo

Chicago-based Syndigo combines PIM, MDM, DAM and Digital Shelf Analytics. The system is particularly widely used by large consumer goods manufacturers operating internationally. View profile

Viamedici

Viamedici EPIM’s strengths lie in managing products with numerous variants, technical attributes and dependencies. Typical customers operate in automotive, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and medical technology. View profile

Open-source alternatives

  • Pimcore Community Edition: free for companies with annual revenue below €5 million, non-production environments, universities and non-profit organisations.
  • AtroPIM: the open-source edition is free to run in your own data centre, with SaaS starting at €400 per month. Prebuilt ERP and e-commerce integrations cost extra.
  • OpenDXP: an open-source platform created following Pimcore’s licensing change. For background, see our article on OpenDXP.

Free does not mean there are no costs: hosting, implementation, customisation and maintenance still need to be paid for. Our article on PIM implementation and costs explains the total cost of a PIM project.

How to narrow down your options

  1. Data model and product range: How many items, variants and technical attributes do you have? Complex product ranges with many variants need a flexible data model.
  2. Channels: Which online stores, marketplaces, dealer portals and print catalogues need product data?
  3. Standards: Do your customers require ETIM, ECLASS, BMEcat or GS1?
  4. ERP and IT landscape: Are prebuilt integrations available for your ERP system and online store?
  5. Deployment and budget: SaaS or your own data centre, considering licensing and implementation costs together.
  6. Partners: Is there an experienced integrator serving your region and industry?

You can find industry-specific assessments in our comparisons, including wholesale, fashion and textiles, construction and building services, food, medical technology, mechanical engineering, the electrical industry and automotive. Our PIM selection page explains how a structured selection process works.

Which systems suit which company sizes

The Target customers column in the table above shows who the vendors themselves target. This provides an initial guide, not a ranking:

  • Small businesses and limited budgets: Plytix explicitly targets small and medium-sized businesses, and its Standard plan is free for up to 100 items. Other free options include the Pimcore Community Edition for companies with revenue below €5 million and AtroPIM hosted in your own data centre. Across the full directory, 28 vendors list starting prices below €500 per month. Find out more in our article on PIM for small businesses.
  • Mid-sized businesses: 11 of the 18 systems list mid-sized businesses and large enterprises as their target customers: Akeneo, ATAMYA, Bluestone PIM, Centric PXM, inriver, novomind iPIM, Perfion, Pimcore, Quable, Sales Layer and Viamedici.
  • Enterprise groups with multiple ERP systems: censhare, Informatica, Salsify, SAP Commerce Cloud, Stibo Systems and Syndigo primarily target large enterprises. According to the directory, ATAMYA, Informatica, novomind iPIM, Pimcore, Stibo Systems, Syndigo and Viamedici have their own MDM modules. Our article on PIM for enterprise groups explains what matters when working with multiple ERP systems.

For mid-sized manufacturers, five factors matter most alongside size: technical attributes and classifications such as ETIM and ECLASS, variants and accessories, data sheets and catalogues generated directly from the PIM, exchange formats such as BMEcat for retailers, and proven integration with their ERP. Our comparisons for mechanical engineering, the electrical industry and construction and building services show which systems are widely used in each sector.

Frequently asked questions

What PIM systems are available?

Our directory lists 186 PIM vendors as of November 2026. Frequently mentioned names include Akeneo, ATAMYA, censhare, Centric PXM, Informatica, inriver, novomind iPIM, Perfion, Pimcore, Plytix, Salsify, Sales Layer, Stibo Systems, Syndigo and Viamedici.

How much does a PIM system cost?

135 of the 186 vendors in our directory provide pricing only on request. Published entry-level prices range from free plans (Plytix Standard, Pimcore Community-Edition) through €149 per month (Plytix Pro) and €400 per month (AtroPIM SaaS) to plans starting at €4,000 per month (Akeneo). Implementation, integrations and running costs are additional.

Which PIM vendors are based in the DACH region?

Those featured in this overview include ATAMYA (Bochum), censhare (Munich), novomind (Hamburg), Pimcore (Salzburg), SAP (Walldorf) and Viamedici (Ettlingen). You can find more vendors in the directory.

Are there any free PIM systems?

Yes, with limitations: Pimcore Community-Edition for companies with annual revenue below €5 million, the open-source edition of AtroPIM and the Standard plan from Plytix. Hosting, implementation and maintenance still require money or your own staff time.

Which PIM system is the best?

That depends on your starting point: product range, channels, standards, ERP, budget and available partners. A system that is ideal for a fashion retailer is not necessarily right for a machinery manufacturer. Our industry comparisons and the PIM-Finder help you create a shortlist.

Which PIM systems are suitable for mid-sized manufacturers?

There is no single best system for everyone. 11 of the 18 systems in this overview list mid-sized and large enterprises as their target customers. For manufacturers, the key factors are technical attributes, classifications such as ETIM and ECLASS, variants, data sheets and proven ERP integration. Comparing the systems against your requirements will identify the two or three that fit.

Which PIM systems are suitable for small businesses?

For small businesses, SaaS systems with published entry-level pricing and free editions are particularly worth considering. Of the 18 systems in this overview, Plytix explicitly targets small and medium-sized businesses. Across the full PIM-Consultants directory, 28 vendors list entry-level prices below €500 per month.
